Lokar is currently accepting applications for the following positions

Designer/Engineer
Lokar Performance Products is seeking a confident and creative Designer / Engineer, who is passionate about design and loves to build, tinker, and prototype. The Designer / Engineer will not only help sustain and manage the technical aspects of existing products, but will also help develop, prototype, test, and manage products that bring innovative solutions to the aftermarket automotive industry.

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, the Designer / Engineer will collaborate with industrial design, tech support, manufacturing, sales, and sourcing to document and improve legacy components and assemblies, as well as create, prototype, document and deliver new product solutions. The ideal candidate would be a likeable and self-sufficient individual with strong SolidWorks skills, a copious amount of DIY technical experience (both personally & professionally), and a devotion to quality and detail. This person should have the confidence to succeed without micro-management and the humility to benefit from the experience of coworkers and suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Create SolidWorks models/drawings of existing legacy parts and assemblies; some have existing documents to reference, some do not (measurement or napkin CAD to real CAD)
  • Where needed, improve the design of legacy parts and assemblies for function / manufacturability / updated aesthetics
  • As part of the Product Development Team, assist with concept generation and help turn those concepts into actual, documented prototypes and production components and assemblies
  • Work with manufacturing and sourcing to complete prototype builds and to develop processes and tooling necessary for production builds
  • Support R&D projects with creative ideas, innovations, 3D printed prototypes, rendered images, etc.
Qualifications
  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, or related); otherwise, advanced education / CAD certification may suffice
  • Design experience primarily with (some or all): machined parts, injection molded components, castings, basic electrical circuits, and mild to moderately complex mechanisms
  • Hands on experience, experience, experience – personal and professional; know how to use tools and intellect to build, repair, modify, disassemble, etc.
Skills
  • Solid CAD modeling skills (SolidWorks preferred); know the fundamentals; know how to best utilize planes, centerlines, and relations; know when a feature should be a “revolve” and when a feature should be an “extrusion”; solid Pro-E/Creo or Inventor experience will allow you to pick up SolidWorks quickly
  • Drawings: apply best drafting practices; familiarity and usage of Y14 practices is a plus, including GD&T
  • Design: be able to translate design intent into efficiently manufacturable product and readable, detailed drawing packages
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools; mill or lathe or welding experience is a plus
  • Capable with Microsoft Office packages
If You:
  • If you change your own oil in your vehicle on a regular basis, using quality oil and filters, you will likely fit right in around here
  • As a kid, if you used scrap wood to build something you could ride on down the street you will likely enjoy this job
  • If you ever owned Legos and had them organized by product (each of the Star Wars Pod Racer pieces in one box) or by attribute (size, color, etc.) then your organization skills will be helpful
  • If you, at the age of twelve, developed and built a scale hydro-electric plant that could actually supply enough power for three houses in your neighborhood, then you will probably be bored
  • Cable/Housing Technician
